THE ALENTEJO CAN ALSO BE READ THROUGH ITS TREES.

The landscape of Herdade da Saudade is shaped by trees deeply rooted in this territory.

Olive trees and holm oaks spread across the estate and follow the rhythm of the seasons. Alongside them stand cork oaks, whose bark is harvested according to the tree’s own natural cycle and a tradition deeply connected to the Alentejo.

These are trees in no hurry.

They provide shade, food, raw material and shelter, creating a landscape that changes throughout the year without ever losing its identity.

Around them, wild vegetation grows freely. Near the estate’s small reservoirs and ponds, the presence of water creates different habitats, allowing other plant life to flourish.

With the first rains, the land awakens. In spring, new colours appear. In summer, the countryside dries, lightens and slowly turns golden.

It is a landscape shaped by climate, time and generations of working the land.

A landscape that was never designed.

It simply grew into itself.
